Q: How do you gain Eternal Life?
A: By believing on Jesus Christ, God's Son, who died for our sins.
You can understand this better by these five facts from the Bible:
1. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." God has high standards for us to live by, and we have not measured up to them. We have disobeyed God's ways in thought, word and deed. Not only so, but we can't keep ourselves from sinning because we have a sinful heart.
2. "It is appointed for man once to die then the judgment." We will all appear before God, the Judge of the Living and the Dead, to be judged for how we have lived in this life. The Bible is clear that we have failed and are worthy of punishment forever in the lake of fire because of our sins against God.
3. "God is love." God in His love for us knows that we are sinful. But He wants to help us. We are supposed to be punished forever because of our sins against God. But God in love sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to earth to die in our place. That happened when Jesus was nailed to the cross about 2,000 years ago. Jesus died for our sins, was buried, then rose again. Later He rose to heaven, where He sits at the right hand of God, ready to forgive our sins and grant us eternal life with Him.
4. "Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." How do we have our sins forgiven and receive eternal life? By believing in Jesus. You see, if you know that you are a sinner and that you cannot please God because of your sinful heart, then there is only one thing left for you to do: trust God's promise to save you. God promises to forgive and save from hell all who ask Him. Then He will give you a new heart that can live to please Him.
	You may call upon Him by praying words like these: "Heavenly Father, thank you for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ into the world to save me form my sins. I confess that I am a sinner and I need your forgiveness. I also ask that you give me a new heart. According to your promise, give me eternal life and help me to live for You."
	Read the Bible yourself every day. Pray every day about everything. And go to a church where the Bible is taught. In this way you can grow in your experience of eternal life!
