Moses, the man of God b. Jesus Christ, the Son of God c. Abraham, the prophet of God The answer to each question is b. All four of these men performed incredible feats that stunned their onlookers. All performed works that put them in the history books. All four of these men had an impact on their field for generations. The first three, now dead, performed tricks that today are duplicated by many. Yet only one, Jesus, the Son of God, is still working today, performing works that none can duplicate. Many magicians perform to entertain audiences, taking their minds off their troubles for a little while. But Jesus did one work to free us from a troublesome life forever, saying, "be of good cheer; for I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). Jesus sets us free because Jesus Christ dealt with the cause of our problems. The Bible tells us that sin is the cause of our trouble--your sin "has separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear" (Isa. 59:2). Sin is like saying "No" to a holy God, and the penalty is death and the lake of fire, to burn forever. You know you have sinned against God if you answer Yes to any of these questions: Have you ever lied? Have you ever taken something that wasn't yours? Have you ever put something as more important than God? We have sinned many times! And so God is right to punish us forever. Thankfully, because God is love, He has found a way that we may escape our punishment. God's way of escape, of salvation, is to trust in His Son Jesus Christ to save us. Jesus came to earth. He was the Son of God in the flesh!--and was crucified. The Bible teaches us that when He was nailed to the cross, Jesus was taking the blame for the sins of the whole world; God has "laid on him the iniquity of us all" (Isa. 53:6). Then He died, was buried, and on the third day rose again. He was triumphant over death! He then ascended to heaven, to the right hand of God. The Bible teaches us that "there is none righteous, no, not one" (Rom. 3:10), that we cannot do good deeds to achieve salvation and enter heaven. Because sin is against God, our pardon must come from Him. The way of salvation is by asking Jesus to forgive your sins, and turning from trusting in your own good deeds to trusting Jesus for salvation. Then read the Bible to find out how God helps you with your troubles. Pray, lifting up your difficulties to Him who died once for you and lives forever for you. And go to a church of Bible-reading Christians to serve the Lord Jesus with them.
