“Behold, I have set the land before you. Go in and possess the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers—to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob—to give to them and to their offspring after them” (Deut. 1:8).
The land is your soul that has been cratered by conflicts and scarred by sin. Patrols of fear, commandos of pride, and troops of idols are entrenched in every nook and cranny of your heart. Their feelings have always been a force you could barely, if ever, resist. Their volleys have incapacitated you with fear and anxiety.
No longer.
Christ brings the victory through His blood. The enemy crumbled when Christ, declared to be the Son of God with power through the resurrection from the dead, struck terror into their hearts. The shock and awe of His victory over death has decimated the enemy combatants and made them but shadows of their former selves.
When the Word points out the enemy of your soul that has held you captive for so long, that is your marching order to advance. “Go in and possess it.” God has shown you where He is working, what territory He wants to take next. When you confess the sin, the enemy flees and you win the hill for Christ. Believe Him and claim the victory in Jesus’ name.
Jesus means, “God is Salvation.” Not, “God Plus You is Salvation.” Not, “Try, Try, Again,” The victory and all the honor goes to the Lord who fought for you. You may not experience much in the way of deliverance immediately. Just pray for deliverance from the revealed sin until you find your freedom.
God had “sworn” to give you, Abraham’s descendant, this victory. If you live by faith like Abraham did, then this victory is yours. Seize the promise!
It may be days, weeks, or months of praying for this or other traits, but the end is sure; the Lord is fighting for you; you will overcome. When you do, the Lord will get the glory and you will acknowledge the change in heart as from the Lord and not yourself. Pay attention to verses that stand out. Those may be your marching orders of where to engage.
