Because you know the world’s ways fixes your attention on earth and its fleeting pleasures, so you focus your attention on the teachings Jesus gave for eternal riches:
- Choosing the narrow way everyone else is avoiding; you are patiently enduring God’s long plan instead of choosing the quick and easy way to get what you want.
- Your life is tending toward spiritual growth instead of fleshly comfort.
- Being faithful in the work the Lord assigned you.
- Giving your goods, time, and money to gospel work that labors to bring souls to eternal life.
- Working with the Spirit to live humbly and righteously and so be the kind of person Christ can use to rule the kingdom with Him.
- Being an available, faithful servant the Lord can use for His purposes now.
- Protecting your heart: you are careful what messages you are picking up, lest they corrupt the spiritual life you have been building up.
- No longer pampering yourself so much, nor depending on extensive leisure pursuits for defining your life.
